Tuesday 25/4/17 

we were given our roles on what for the play burn, i got the part of Nail who is a teenage boy who was originally played by Sid Mitchell i was happy with my role which i also shared with Benedict. we spent the lesson going through our scripts as our characters which was fun  as it was the first time we had been given script work. in Dance lesson we carried on working on Tai chi, learning the different steps and guides, we also did a warm ups, stretching and moving to get our bodies ready for the rest of the class. In production we were given our roles for the production side of the play burn and i was assigned the role of publicity with my partner Jordan. The first thing i thought of when i got given the role was that i loved it it was such a cool thing to be doing as its right up my alley so i was very happy with my role. The first thing i did when i got given my role was i made a little list of all the different ways things could be publicized, so i wrote down, trailers, social media, posters and then i thought how could i put all of that into the work i am doing now.



Thursday 27/4/17

to start the day off we had drama but we had to perform a monologue to our drama teacher and the monologue that i chose to do was from the musical Heathers. The monologue was about a girl who is pissed off at another student in her school and takes out her rage on them. i thought the performance went very well but when i finished the performance i was told that i'm to in my comfort zone and that i play the mean girl a lot and my teacher wanted me to play a character that i wasn't used to playing. i really took this advise well because i understood where he was coming from. i needed to step out of the box i have put myself in as if i want to make it in this industry i'm going to need to play many different roles.

Tuesday 2/5/17  

To start our lesson we had to do the dance game to warm ourselves up. The game is about going in a circle and copying the dance that one person does. This is both fun and productive as its good for warming us up and it was fun as being in an environment where everyone is doing something silly make it fun and you don't mind looking stupid as everyone else looks silly and stupid to. the rest of the lesson we were putting pieces of the play together. For my scene we went thought trying to set the scene as we only had recently got our scripts but we still had a lot to do it was fun going through the play as it was good to see how it all fits together and you could see how it flowed even though we were still looking at scripts, had no spacial awareness and kept having to stop and start again. In dance lesson we went through a video that showed us all the different steps to tai chi and how they are put together i found the fact that we were doing tai chi very relaxing and it was slow ans easy to keep up with. There was once point in the class where everyone was so focused and relaxed that no one made even the slightest sound. Then we had production were we sat in our pairs and spoke about our ideas and plans for what we are going to do, we then sat in a circle as a whole group and spoke about what we have done so far and what we needed to do, our team leaders wrote everything down and then asked us to carry on with our work. what i did was i started to make different kinds of posters so i could get an idea of one that i wanted to stick with.

Thursday 4/5/17

we went into doing our play running through it and trying to start putting things together and trying to start using the stage directions to help us. For my scene there is a big emotional speech that i give to the audience and i was having trouble with it so my teacher said think about how it would feel to be that person in the play. I found this oddly hard as i have been judged my whole life and when it came down to thinking about all of those times for the drama i could not it was like my brain was stuck trying to think. While people  were going up to do their scenes i had an idea to make a trailer that went with the poster so i looked up different styles of posters and trailers.

Friday 5/5/17 

in the blog lesson we had to write up about what we have been doing the previous days, while in the blog lesson i went back to my posters and looked at the videos i had taken in the last couple of lessons and was trying to make a trailer but i didn't know how to make it so i looked up different way to make a trailer and an app called 'Imovie' came up  so i started messing around with it a little bit and i looked up different people who have used the app and how they found it and the projects the did on it.















Monday 8/5/17

we spent the lesson doing blog but then most of the class left to do an audition, so there was only a couple of us left in the room and i carried on doing some blog but then after a while i did some more production work going over some posters and trailers. The auditions people went to were for a new Idris Elba and the were casting extras, i think that it would have been an amazing experience even to just show up and audition but unfortunately i couldn't go so instead i focused on my work. I also looked thought my script and went through lines with people still in the class which helped as it would help to learn lines. We did not have drama as many people went to the auditions. 

Tuesday 9/5/17

We spent Robs lesson going through the play and fine tuning what we needed to. And instead of just running through the play we instead blocked through it scene by scene trying to improve even the slightest detail. In dance we did more tai chi but this time we had to be filmed doing all of the steps we had learned, we then got given the task to go through the ensemble scenes and as i'm not in any of them i had to sit out on the side. In our production lesson Becca wasn't in so we had our drama teacher and we were playing hang man which was fun but i would have preferred to do our course work. The game did kind of bring us closer tho so i understand why my teacher chose to play the game as we all were being a group and not caring about anything else but the game. People were doing loads of celebs


















Thursday 11/5/17

we had drama and we spent the lesson going through the scenes with the big monologues and we were trying to get people to go deeper into the character and less ourselves. For example there is a scene where Birdman (Brad) and Rachel (Kenzie) have to pretend to kiss and it took a while to get the scene done as we kept on laughing as we thought it was funny, but the characters in that scene wouldn't laugh as its a serious scene. Rob also said something to us that stuck to  me he said "people always say they will do it on the day so pretend today is the actual performance". the reason i found this so insightful is because its true and it is something i used to say a lot.

in our blog lesson we sat and done work for unit nine updating work that we had not completed yet. In our drama lesson we did nothing but talking as our teacher had to go and do something with people from out side the college

Tuesday 16/5/17

on Tuesday we had a drama lesson were we went through scenes with people who needed the most help, that was mostly the scenes with loads of people in it and then we also did my scene which was good as we needed a lot of help. we then had dance where we were doing things to help us with our burn work e.g going through lines ect.

Friday 19/5/17

a student called Mia came to our class and we each one group at a time had to talk to her about our production roles. When she came to us we told her about the website posters and social media pages. She said it looked like we had everything under control and then we carried on with our work.
in our drama lesson we had to run through the whole play again and again which at the time seemed long and boring but it was actually very good as we needed to really be pushed as some of us have had scripts for ages and dont know the lines so by running it over and over it would help us get the hang of it.

Tuesday 23/5/17

We did not have drama on this day. In our dance lesson we looked back at the poems we made using the sounds and we were trying to link it with our play the sound were, scweltch, squish, plop ect all sound of things hitting a river. We then had Beccas lesson and we were focusing on our production roles, so what i did was i updated the website trying my hardest to make every detail look polished.

Thursday 25/5/17

we spent our drama lesson going through the whole pay but after one run we ended up looking into scenes that were struggling the most and this time my scene was not in it so what i did was i asked my teacher if i could fix my website as im no longer going to be acting and he said that was fine so i spent the last of the lesson making a few minor tweaks.

Friday 26/5/17

we tried to do a whole run through of the play but loads of people kept on forgetting there lines and it got all messed up and our teacher had to stop the scenes a lot of times as he was getting annoyed. when i was performing my monologue and he didn't feel the emotion he would stop me and tell me why is my character upset and i should think about someone who hates me while im doing it.








  we then ended the lesson with a game of guess the celebrity where one person goes outside and the rest have to pretend the person outside is a celeb. i found the game fun and it was good as we all worked together




Friday 10/6/17

we were in the theatre and we did a full run through including sound lights i found this very exciting as all of our hard work was about to be paid of as our performance was so soon.

Monday 12/6/17

we had to come in at nine to do a whole day of rehearsals. this was our biggest performance yet as we even got to go in the dressing rooms which we had never been in before, it was soo good the whole day we did tech runs and we went through the ques. even through the day was fun it was also very slow we had to do everything step by step but it was good looking at the stage with all the props on it.

Wednesday 14/6/17

we did two whole dress runs and it was amazing it looked so good i could not believe that we had come this far already and our performance was tomorrow so i was very glad that we were able to do two dress rehearsals

Thursday 15/6/17

PERFORMANCE DAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the two performances were amazing the first one was in front of people from the school it was also the one that was filmed for the examiner and i found that was the best one, as you really got a reaction from the audience which was good as the play is about teens so teenagers would like it. the second performance was also good but you did not really get a reaction from the audience which is good but it would have been nice ti have a few laughs. at the end of the last performance when we were all on stage about to bow i realised something. A whole year had gone by in just the blink of an eye, all of the drama all of the stupid petty fights were nothing anymore we all stood as one

 

week twenty-three

on Tuesday we started by doing some warm ups, we started by doing some tongue twisters which was good to warm us up but I really struggle with tongue twisters. We then played a game where our teacher put on music and then he pointed to someone and that person had to start dancing then the whole class had to copy what he/she was doing, finally we played a game called this is not a pen and what you had to do was use the pen to be anything else but not a pen. people did all sorts of things for example they did:

we then carried on with rehearsals just going through the #weareallimagrants. We then had Dance and we got given our new assignment/unit which was our solo auditions we sat In her room going through what we wanted to do so since in doing musical theatre I had to do a song and a monologue. then we had Becca and we started to make posters for our show and I instantly made one with a picture of me in costume.

 On Thursday we spent the whole drama lesson going through the play and making more improvements I think its good to keep on going through it even if it gets boring as at least we know what we are doing. On Friday we again ran through the play but there was some people who were absent so it was hard to do a whole run through as everyone has a main role. 

week twenty-two

On Monday we ran through the whole play  moulding the scenes together, people started adding new scenes which was good as not many people had big parts so it was good that people wanted to make new scenes to make themselves seen other than people who just wanted to be in the background. It started with us all on stage while Nerissa goes through her monologue and we have to make fun of her. On Tuesday We started drama by writing a list of different foods, restaurants and places form all around the world, the reason we did this was because it was like how  people from all different races and countries can come together over the littlest things. We then made that our last scene (calling out different food etc. and there country). On Thursday and Friday we didn't have school.

week twenty-one

On Monday we updated our blogs and did some work then when we were in drama we went into another room and went thought the scene with the field workers and I started singing as the song "waterfalls" went with the scene we were doing as its about a young boy who is hurting his mother. When we showed Rob he agreed that it went with the scene. On Tuesday we had Rob and we went though our scenes and started to find a way to merge them together, In dance we were doing more on tai chi looking up videos on how to learn the steps. On Thursday we watched all of the groups pieces for the #weareallimagrants and it was good looking at what other people had to show all of there ideas were really good. Friday we had blog then we had drama and what we did was run through the whole play trying to piece all of the scene into one big production at first it was hard as we didn't know if everything was going was to flow as all of the different scenes were so different.   

week twenty

We spent the lesson talking about the show that was going to be the next day and we went thought how the process will go and we also practised the live performances. On Tuesday we had the performance so we all walked down to Camdens people theatre and when we got there we went to the dressing room and got ready to practise the play. We also spoke about what we are going to be doing when everyone showed up and we agreed that it would have to do with our characters in the movie so the whole night was a whole theme. the show went very well and I think we did amazing it was so cool seeing the movies we worked so hard on come out so great. On Thursday we went back to doing our work on we are all immigrants and we were doing scenes and I played a bitchy person who takes the piss out of this boy who is form another country as my character thinks its weird that they are in the country   

On Friday we were told to write our evaluation on the silent movie project then in drama we were all sitting around each other and we had to go around in the circle and talk about what information we have found from our families. I spoke about how my nan came to the country and how she had to struggle to get here just to be teased and miss treated, I thought It was really interesting hearing what other peoples families have been through and I think it will really help us with the assignment.  

week nineteen

On Monday we sat down in a circle and Becca told us that we need to do more on blog as so far no one was passing and  she was telling us that level 3 will be so much harder. In Robs lesson we stated to add more to our live performance. On Tuesday we were with Rob and we were talking about what we are going to be doing with the silent movie project such as what we will be doing on the night and how the order will run. We then ran thought our live performance and in the background there was the pink panther music playing in the background. Then we had dance and we were moving on to tai chi, our teacher gave us a list of things to research about tai chi. We even started to look up different moves in tai chi.

in Beccas lesson we added more to our stages, I brought in some things from home like glitter and this sparkly wrapping paper that we used as the stage floor and then we added glitter to the cotton wool so it looked like sparkly clouds. behind her as when she performs live its usually quite girly.

On Thursday we performed our scene in front of the music students as they were the ones who were playing music for us in the live performance I think it was a good idea that we did this because it can give the music students an idea of what we are doing and what they will need to make music for.

On Friday we sat in our drama room talking about what we are doing for the we are all immigrants play and me and Nerissa had something planned, we mashed songs together that were to do with surviving and the way of the world. our teacher liked it but he said it would be better if the songs were split up into the whole play. We played this game where one person went outside and the rest of us had to act like the person who was outside was a celebrity of our choice then the other person had to guess who they were

   

week eighteen

On Monday we had Becca and I spoke to my group about what we wanted to add to the stage and we discussed what we wanted to add to our stages. we also got told that we would have a mock interview the next day for the course we will want to be doing. I went home and thought about what I wanted to do.  

my first thought was to do a song called "light my candle" in the musical rent:

It blew out again?

No, I think that I dropped my stash
I know I've seen you out and about
When I used to go out
Your candle's out 

but then I thought no because it a duet and it wouldn't work me doing it by myself so then I thought of "so much better" in the musical legally blonde. But again I didn't feel like it was the right thing to do and so I ended up doing a song from heathers called "beautiful". I chose the song as I thought it went with my voice well. On the Tuesday we had to do our stages but one by one we all got taken out to do our mock interviews, when I got chosen I was nervous because we were performing for the head of performing arts but then once I started singing I felt a lot more calm. I think it was good that we had the chance to do the mock interview as its a good way to practice.
