To start the week we had drama where we started by creating a freeze frame for a country and Rob would give us points, we then had to make a freeze frame of a country and he had to try and guess. Then we continued the drama exercise by making a scene from one of our favourite TV shows/ films and we picked mean girls
at first we didn't do very well because we started laughing because we felt uncomfortable around each other but one our second try with the teachers help we managed to get though it. When we did it again we tried not to laugh but it was tricky as we all felt uncomfortable with one and other, again we did worm up exercises to help us with our speech e.g. tongue twisters, Rob also showed us how to breathe properly as before I used to breathe in and my stomach would go in and our teacher told us that that was incorrect for an actor to breathe like that and in fact we should let our stomachs go out when we breathe in so I learnt a lot about voice work and breathing in that lesson. the next day we then had our dance/movement class where we went over the homework and then we carried on with the beats and they we had to share it again. She also made us wright down our reasons for stretching and why we think their are rules in the dance hall. We then did stretches and started learning a dance to stretch to, then we started to learn a bit of tango/salsa dancing. I paired up with Naomi and our dance teacher said that we were doing very well and she was impressed. Then we had a lesson with Becca but she was not in so we had a sub and we started talking about our roles for our essay and we then looked at all the different questions to help us to complete the essay. Then he put us at our computers and helped us start to write the essays. Two days later we had drama and we started to develop more of an idea for our drama pieces, Rob put us into groups and we started to discuss identity and what it means to us and how we could portray it into a scene. Me and two other people (Naomi and Cali) and we had the idea to have two dolls and a puppet master to control what they were doing
. I was playing the puppet master a.k.a society and i was telling the girls what to do and we used stereotypical and sexist views and questions. for example Naomi was playing a girl who was playing a stereotypical girl. The next day we had drama again and we did the same thing but only this time we we started actually planning our piece we started by all standing in a line and saying things to do with identity. the last lesson we had was with Becca we wrote our blog's which helped as i find it hard to do it at home.
