week one

At the start of the  week we had drama and we started by doing vocal warm ups such as c,g where we had to exercise our mouths. Rob also showed us how to breathe in and out in a proper way so that we can become better actors. Another thing we did was that we practice doing tongue twisters not only just to practice pronouncing tricky words/sentences but to also bring us together so we would not feel embarrassed around each other as we are all doing something silly together. We then had Rebecca where we did performing arts production where we looked at different kinds of production in different settings. We were given a sheet to note down what we thought were different and similar in the piece. We were shown a live play, a show (dance/talent show) and a music festival and we had to analyse each one of them. We had our first lesson with Mandy our movement teacher and we started about writing why health and safety in warming up, I found this very important as it helped me see why stretching is so important before dancing. when we started she gave us a series of exercises to complete and then she put us in groups and gave us all a beat to make using our hands and feet and we had to show another group the beat and then make a dance to go with the beat. My group didn't actually do well in the performances as we didn't practice very well. When we next had drama rob had us doing improv where we were only aloud to use one sentence and had to create a whole scene just using that one bit of text it was surprising hard as many people had different ideas we ended up going with a short play about a shop. I really enjoyed the way that rob was teaching us at the start of every lesson we did vocal warm ups and it made it easier to get into the drama as it helped us with our vocals such as raising our voice levels. Then at the end of the week we used music to create a piece, Rob put on a type of music that was very dream like so what we did was we made Naomi to act like a little girl and Cali and Heaila played parents who were very abusive both physically and mentally. When the girl falls asleep she is transported into another world where her parents are nice and care a lot about her and as much as she doesn't want to leave she wakes up and is back to her normal life. Rob then also told us about our drama show and what the theme of the piece has to be (identity)
